Deadlines refuse to be taken seriously. Alas, I have finally received the very last of the second issue’s submissions as of today (almost 2 months after the initial deadline passed – I still love you, you know who you are). Thus, I present to you: AN UPDATE. I have officially printed out over 450 pages of submissions and by Friday, January 15 2010 the accepted submissions will be chosen and placed lovingly in a very particular order and those accepted will receive joyous emails and the first draft will be sent to my oh-so-wonderful graphic designers Maria and Keith Delcampe and soon after the final format will be handed tenderly to the printer on 5th Avenue in Manhattan and I will sigh relief and you will purchase copies galore because I will be in great debt after this run and we will embrace and dance and cheers et cetera! So, for those who have submitted, I thank you infinitely. Due to the high volume of submissions, I am unable to respond to every single artist, but know that your talent is priceless and I love you even if we’ve never met. For those who are considering submitting, I recommend you buy yourself a copy of the upcoming issue and you will understand the stellar genius of the contributing artists and you should be a part of it, too. For those of you who have no idea how you ended up here, your mind is about to be blown. SLEEP PRNGRPHR drops February 2010.

APOLOGIES FOR TARDINESS ALL AROUND So it took a little longer than anticipated - I had a birthday which made it legal for me to enter bars, and things got a little out of hand, but I woke up outside of a bar in D.C. in my batman suit and remembered I had a million brilliant people relying on me. Finally finally, NOW, the premiere issue has been lovingly and painstakingly pieced together into the world's foremost journal of genius. Officially 43-contributors and nearly 150 pages deep, this has turned out to be better than this here foundry could have ever anticipated. Alas, with such a large number of contributors, each of whom has between one and six pieces of work throughout the issue, I have come to the realization that this sort of brilliant collaboration is too special to appear four times per year (also it took a lot of work and a lot of time and I made a lot of people wait oh-so-patiently and I feel just awful about that) ALAS: Flaneur Foundry will now be a BIANNUAL publication so that we may have more time and more detail adoringly put towards the greatest group of artists ever known both sides of the Mississippi and beyond. I delivered the final bulging / engorged / sensuously overstuffed package to my local printing man, and he has taken it under his wing like it were a precious kiddo in a basket on his doorstep, and even he was greatly impressed by the content. Being that he’s in the dirty District of Columbia, and it was just a big holiday ‘round these here parts, he’s not sure how long it will take to print up all the copies, but he promised me and I promise you to let the world know as soon as he knows. Check in here for updates; there will also be a newsletter released in the next week. Check out the Featured Artists section for a full list of our contributors (and if your name is there without a bio/photo, send it to flaneurfoundry@gmail.com). Finally one more enormous thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their work for this issue – there were over 160 folks who submitted, which is astounding, and if you didn’t appear this time around, please please please submit again! More time and more room means more folks with great work.

In other hotly-anticipated news: Flaneur Foundry Press has dipped its toes into the alluring world of poetry publication– and let me tell you we liked what we saw.. or felt.. whatever. Thus, in the coming months we will have more news about our first release. I can tell you only this much: ‘Brody’ and ‘Christensen’

and so it begins…

Endless thanks to everyone for your submissions – absolutely inspiring, unique and impressive. In the coming weeks, the foundry will be sorting through each and every email in search of the perfect compilation of artists for the very first issue Lonely Are The Brave. If your submission doesn’t make it into the premiere issue, do not be discouraged; please continue to submit your work for the future issues- just because it isn’t fitting for one doesn’t mean it won’t be perfect for another issue. Also continue to check out the “Featured” section for sneak peeks of work that will appear in the forthcoming issue. The printed issue is looking to appear sometime in April, and as it all takes shape you will be updated. As mentioned, all official contributors will receive one free copy, and any additional copies can be purchased via this website once available in print. Sneak Peeks phor your inspiration

We are the contemporaries we have been waiting for.  We are the siren call  born in the gut of a generation that waits  in the storm drains, that streams their lyric into the swirling ear of their lives

Run Comrades! The Old World is Behind You!

Flâneur Foundry was officially established January 31, 2009 at 1:04 a.m. EST, though the idea for a global all-arts journal had been brewing for quite some time. The flâneur, according to the French Dictionary Le Robert, is an artist of impressions, circumnavigating the city as whim dictates, giving him or herself over to the spectacle of the moment.'' As for foundry... In England, type foundries began with the introduction of the printing press. Originally, type foundries manufactured and sold metal and wood typefaces for the letterpress printers. Alas, on the above date at said time, the internet sweatily encountered a lonely insomniac mind and soon thrust forth the placenta-covered lovechild that is Flaneur Foundry Quarterly Arts Journal.
The intention of this publication is to display the art and writing of artists all over the world who have scoured the streets at all hours, stumbling upon moments of inspiration. Issue I will premier this Spring in all its infantile glory, but with the incomparably brilliant wisdom of the elderly that we all know should have died by now, but we never talk about it out loud, because that would be morally unjust and such.

And so it begins... Join in on the fun and submit to the Spring issue by March 15th and you, too, can play ball with us on the Moon. Onward, soldiers of space!
